One of them is ... almost funny.

I have a major problem with the Tithing one, though. The church really shouldn't endorse the necessity of coffee, doughnuts, technology, stadium seating, or a bowling alley to commune with God.

Modern Christianity may have dug itself a hole of debt just like everyone else has and I get really annoyed when they not only try to pass along the cost to us but justify by making it our duty. The Unitarian church I went to with Tony had a speaker come up and all but demand we get out our checkbooks right there on the spot.

I have no problems with communing with God on my own without a building or other "congregants." Why should I have to pay for, justify and thereby endorse the necessity for those things?

Maybe I'm being cynical but I would much rather people be honest if they're going to demand tithes. We're not giving money to God, we're giving it to the organization that runs the church so that they'll be able to make and use their budget. When we tithe, we're creating the necessity for a church to be run like a business. The very thought of that is an aversion to me, though in our present situation I don't really see how we can magically make it otherwise.

I guess I just don't want people to expect me to support this attitude. If I had to pay to go to church, I'd rather stay home, regardless of the state of God's rectum.

OMG! What a crock of shite!

Both condescending beyond all get out. The Catholic church I attended? Donuts were donated. No 'bowling alleys'. Just the basics in a poor, middle class primarily Hispanic neighborhood.

Is this church site a spoof and I am not getting it?
